Décorés de la République: le Cardinal Maurice Piat fait GCSK
Le Cardinal Maurice Piat s’est vu attribuer la plus haute distinction de la République. Il a été fait Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean, ce 12 mars 2017, pour sa contribution dans les domaines social et religieux. La liste des décorés de la République inclut Emmanuel Leung Shing, QC, qui a été fait GOSK, pour sa contribution au secteur judiciaire, de même que Me Désiré Basset.
L’ancien commissaire de Rodrigues, Ismaël Valimamode a pour sa part été décoré à titre posthume pour son œuvre dans les domaines politique et social.
