Chagos: Maurice pourrait causer «a lasting damage to bilateral relations with UK and USA»

«I asked for a reply to be given to my request by the end of June 2016, otherwise Mauritius would take appropriate action at the international level, including at the United Nations», a expliqué SAJ.

Ils insistent sur le fait qu’ils ont été «absolutely clear about UK sovereignty of these islands, which have been British since 1814». Ils ajoutent que «neither the UK nor USA recognises the Republic of Mauritius’ claim to sovereignty of that Territory».

Ils disent espérer que Maurice «will return to a constructive path from which Mauritius will gain the benefit of friendly bilateral relations, including the British Indian Ocean Territory, where the UK is already engaged in talks including, but not limited to, giving due regard to Mauritius’ interests in matters of marine conservation in the British Indian Ocean Territory».
