We get dollars ; Vietnam gets napalm. »

Whilst the effort made by the facebook ‘15000’ initiative is quite laudable in trying to make the current political establishment think, what is lacking is a clear vision, ideas and policies that bring change – i.e. an alternative to the current politics. Recognising that the ‘15000’ initiative had a written manifesto that explained the things that are not wanted – communalism, corruption etc, the various change movement in the 60s/70s, for example, had specific causes and ideas that galvanised people and generated passion and interest. For the last 20 years, the Mauritian political scene only saw real change and new ideas in the 60s/70s + June 1982 and then not much after. From then, what followed has been a series of compromising controlled reforms or not at all – perhaps even more ‘clientelism’. Any new movement that wants to succeed in this country needs to understand the kind of mood and related ideas that galvanised the people in the 60s/70s and learn from that process. Undeniable key aspects of these change movements were clear leadership, clear ideas, specific causes, charismatic personalities and the power to make people believe that change is possible. Similarly the change brought by Obama, who also indeed used the social electronic media for communication, relied heavily on clear messages, clear cause, clear ideas and of course, on Obama’s natural charisma...

Wealthy people or people with a very solid bank account should never trust Facebook. There are a handful of personal details that you should never say if you do not want criminals- cyber or otherwise to rob you blind. You can certainly enjoy networking and sharing photos, but you should know that sharing information puts you at risk.As far as i'm concerned,i'm damn sure that anything you post on the internet is not private, regardless of your pricacy settings.

First of all,one must remember that the so called Arab Spring did not start with Facebook and the "intellectuals" so called.. It was the revulsion felt by the people of Tunisia, granted the youth included, after a defenceless 'marchand ambulant' set himself on fire and this after having been beaten and humiliated by four over zealous Tunisian policemen!Face book is merely an instrument to communicate, not a revolution ideal! The Mauritian youth has,at a national level, been sleeping for the last ten years or so!But then Mauritius is not a dictatorship and people have different to voice their contentments or disapproval! It is possible that the organisers of this march have not done their homework correctly and so doing have indeed let down the youth, let alone the country as a whole. The THIRST for change was simply not there!Still one must acknowledge the courage shown by the three thousand plus people who have walked the talk!Above all, what all this shows is that Paul Berenger remains the symbol of a peaceful revolution for change!Paul Berenger,in 1968.then 21 years old ,knew then, how to gauge exactly the mood of the youth.Paul Berenger, whether one like him or not, remains an original .who cannot be imitated.N ZENFAN BONDYE as an old woman,a great fan of his used to assert!

Mr Kalla : Since we all seem to be in a joyous mood, so I don’t want to spoil the game but cannot resist the temptation to recommend you guys watch this video of Joan Baez : THE NIGHT THEY DROVE OLD DIXIE DOWN : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CDli4k8y6k&feature=related I much prefer Old Dixie to “We shall overcome”. Virgil Caine and Winter 65, have hidden meaning to me that only I will understand ( I cry every time I listen to it) but if I were to “Musicalise” ( for lack of a better word), and attempt to explain why only 3000 turned up, then Joan gave us the answer already : “ If the audience cannot sing along the simple : la, na, na, na, na, na, La, na, na, na, na, na, na, na”, then are we really surprised? WHERE HAVE ALL THE FLOWERS GONE? Oh, you , FLOWER PEOPLE ! We did not ask you to turn up at San Francisco, but only at LA PLACE D’ARMES ! For God’s sake ! On a serious note, Mr Kalla and to all those of your generation, please remember that WOODSTOCK 1969 was a unique event that cannot and should not be repeated but whose SPIRIT shall ever be in our midst and blood. Now Mai 1968 ( of course without the mythical and so-called Expulsion of you guess who !), is also a unique world event that has since inspired many Justice seekers the world over. As for the 15,000 Wanted ( From my part of the World, I can only ask DEAD or ALIVE !) they are for sure ALIVE but NOT KICKING as YET.I would not say it was a STILL BORN DELIVERY but let us all agree it was indeed a PREMATURE DELIVERY ( HOW PREMATURE IS HARDLY RELEVANT). Many Premature babies do make it and become very successful. And like all PREMATURE BIRTHS, they badly need our care and lots of it. So let us stop be wise after the events and look forward to how we can take the flag forward- high and flying proudly so that there shall be NO BAD MOON RISING even if we have EVER SEEN THE RAIN ( a little) coming.!! We should not give up so easily LONG AS I SEE THE LIGHT .I do see a HURRICANE coming and the end is near BUT that is, for these 70 Mothersuckers in our august assembly. I know coz I HAVE HEARD IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE! @LELIO : my mate,we need not run against the wind anymore, we should do it the MAURITIAN WAY- if each and every one of us were to PISS A SINGLE DROP, we sure will DROWN THEM MFs FOR GOOD! @ WISDOM : I take it as a compliment but DEVOTEE is a rather very generous word on your part. Thanks anyway. All my life I have been looking around and waiting for the perfect peaceful and just WORLD to emerge but I must admit I have been grossly disappointed. Perhaps now is the time for some real action. As my Pal famously decreed, WHEN THE GOING GET TOUGH, THE TOUGH GETS GOING! If Mr Kalla will oblige by not APPLYING THE GUILOTINE on me, I shall divulge my ROADMAP TO THE REAL PARADISE ISLAND. PLAY IT AGAIN KALLA!

@ PLOUM PLOUM. I would prefer the song of Bob Seger : Against the wind...like the cowboys ride..we are still running against the wind... And only " Rezistans & Alternativ" is still running against the West Wind. And you know why the harbour in Mauritius was moved from Mahebourg to Port-Louis in the West ? To avoid the resistance of the " South East Trade Wind". And China and India will force the trade wind to blow East-South-West through Mauritius. If it is against nature, " The answer my friend is blowing in the wind". Nice weekend, Ploum Ploum, without stormy winds !

DEAR MISTER IQBAL, THESE 'YOUNGSTERS' SAY THEY SUCCEEDED IN GETTING 3000 PEOPLE ON THE STREETS. SO WHAT? WE DEFINITELY DO NOT LIVE IN A DICTATORIAL STATE, THIS IS A FACT. PEOPLE CAN VOICE OUT THEIR FEELINGS (AND THEIR HATRED) ON THE INTERNET, ON THE RADIO, IN THE PRESS, ON THE WALLS... PEOPLE CAN CHOOSE TO VOTE FOR ANTI-GOVERNMENT POLITICAL PARTIES, ETC. THESE YOUTHS MUST NOT THINK THAT THERE IS NO CORRUPTION IN THOSE SO-CALLED CIVILIZED COUNTRIES WHICH THEY HOLD AS THEIR MODELS... ONLY THE FACT OF SHAVING THEIR HEADS IS AN IDEOLOGY IN ITSELF, SO HOW COME THEY CLAIM TO BE APOLITICAL AND SO ON AND SO FORTH !!! I THINK THESE SO-CALLED 'YOUNGSTERS' MUST COME BACK TO EARTH AND FACE THE TRUTH, START ORGANISING THINGS IN POVERTY-STRIKEN AREAS, TEACH PEOPLE TO READ AND WRITE, ETC INSTEAD OF SITTING IN FRONT OF A COMPUTER SCREEN AND GIVING IN TO CIA AGENTS WHO MONITOR ALL GESTURES ON FACEBOOK !!! COME ON YOUNG GUYS, GET THINGS DONE, STOP DREAMING ON FACEBOOK !

@ Kalla : I will come back but in the meantime enjoy this : How many roads must a man walk down,*** before you call him a man?*** How many seas must a white dove fly,*** before she sleeps in the sand?*** And how many times must a cannon ball fly,*** before they're forever banned?*** The answer my friend is blowing in the wind,*** the answer is blowing in the wind.*** How many years can a mountain exist,*** before it is washed to the sea?*** How many years can some peopleexist,*** before they're allowed to be free?*** And how many times can a man turn his head,*** and pretend that he just doesn't see?*** The answer my friend is blowing in the wind,*** the answer is blowing in the wind.*** How many times must a man look up,*** before he sees the sky?*** And how many ears must one man have,*** before he can hear people cry ?*** And how many deaths will it take till we know,*** that too many people have died?*** The answer my friend is blowing in the wind,*** the answer is blowing in the wind.*** The answer my friend is blowing in the wind,*** the answer is blowing in the wind.***

Au Dänemark, la gauche vient de remporter les élections."The wind of change is now blowing east. Why not in Mauritius ?
