@starbright You see the world strictly as the Europeans must have taught you! It suits the europeans to teach history lessons with the first page starting with when they set foot on the land! As if the world was inexistent before their arrivals! I can devote some time reading history 'of european version' when having nothing else to do. You are unaware or totally incapable of realizing that there were Argentinian people (not european invaders of whatsoever descent) living in argentina since always. Referring to your 'do you know why' interpretation, I consider the justification to be of french version as in this give & take, they will have more to gain than to give!

Food for thought for Mr Ramgoolam.

The Falklands have belonged to Britain since 1833 while the Argentinians are a bunch of fascist descendants from Spain and Italy who just came to Argentina after the last world war.97% of them are of Spanish and Italian descents.Referring to Patriot; Reunion island and Mayote are closer to Madagascar but they are still French.Jersey and Guensey are closer to France but belong to Knigdom of Britain and do you know why ?

-Pratima is right in concluding but the debate is vast and many may not get the point right away. Just consider who are mostly exploiting the world resources (eg Middle East petrol), which countries are attacking which (mostly white nation/s attacking a non white nation), which have enslaved which (slavery considered taboo & still not considered as crime against humanity), which countries are remote controlling others, which are occupying territory of others (not forget our diego), etc. All these are impoverishing many people in victim countries following which there are economic migrants. Difficult to accept that for long, these Europeans travel to their ex colonies without any visa yet the ex-colonised people need paying just to apply for visa (which can be rejected & money gone) not to say paying higher sums for services like in education.

-@MBCTV I preferred genetic to other terms as the latter have many interpretations (at least in Mauritius) while genetic is scientific and hardly distortable. Ethnic may have biological basis as well as linguistic, cultural & even religious. Genetic shows the biological relationship between anglo saxons living in different corners of the world. By ethics, I meant that the anglo saxons support each other irrespective of whether one is right or wrong from the ethical point of view.

-Pratima, are you not confusing countries? I studied in France and worked in the UK and currently living in Canada. I can tell you that being brown in France is much more of an issue than in the UK or Canada.

I would like to ask Pratima how many refugees from Third World are welcomed and settled in Mauritius ?

-@World national.Point taken, except that term used is ETHNIC GROUND' not 'ethic'.Argentina was thought to be the 'inferior' Latin people as opposed to the Anglo Saxons at the time in 1982,crowding the Whitehouse. The same applies to the invasion of Iraq. The missing link in the 'white' global network is the 'Apartheid South Africa'..Even the USA will soon turned Hispanic dominated. The Hispanics have already objected to make the English language the official language of the USA.Australia is not too far behind!

-So Xandra is shocked by what I said. I think that World National remarks about "genetic basis" is just another way of reiteratng what I bluntly said. People from the Third World are being mistreated in Europe. And their undesired presence in Europe is only one of the consequences of colonialism.

-@MBCTV 1. 'Special uk/us relationship = unity of anglo saxons' or rather unconditional support for each other based on genetic links (nothing to do with ethics). To this list, the New Zealand, Canada & Australia can obviously be added. 2. Nato = union of people of european origin. Again support on genetic basis.

-Pratima makes a sweeping generalisation when she says that people from the Third World are ill treated in UK and USA, just for the sake of having emigrated from that part of the world. Xandra is right to point this out. However Xandra truly exaggerates when she claims that droves of refugees from Pakistan and India step on UK soil everyday. The refugees who are coming to the UK, are mainly from Iraq and Afghanistan. Although the rate of such arrivals has dwindled considerably No prize for guessing why this is the case. One has to differentiate between refugees and economic migrants. Refugees are given refugee status and are expected to leave their host country when the situation improves in their country of origin.Over eighty million people of British extraction leave in the USA alone! One could legitimately asked why is it that students from Reunion island are extended red carpet treatment by the Uk authorities? Free education and practically all expenses paid!A treatment accorded to people from all the so called French departments ,that are spread all around the globe! Not to mention those economic migrants from the EU currently invading Britain. Britain has used its legitimate right to stop immigration from the Third World for over ten years now and this because they are deemed to be ‘economic migrants’ pure and simple ! As far as the Falklands / Malvinas is concerned it must be noted that the USA failed to act as a superpower and stay neutral in the Uk versus Argentine conflict! Instead they sided with the UK on purely ethnic grounds! The meaningless term ‘special relationship’ between the US and Uk was cited as the reason that justified the decision for the Americans to support Britain in that conflict. The British press simply overplayed that ‘special relationship’ that supposedly exists between the US and the UK! The US simply had no backbone and cracked under pressure from Margaret Thatcher! Only a few days ago ,former Labour Foreign Secretary described that ‘special relationship as pure fiction,. Jack Straw added that it was a fantasy aided and abetted ,mainly by feature writers of the British press. When pressed why is it that he Jack Straw never exposed that ‘pure fiction, he replied that officially the Uk government has never subscribed to that special relationship concept but it could stop the British press from singing that particular tune.To put simply members of the Uk governments have simply decided to tag along the propaganda effect of UK-US special relationship. It is important to note that Jack Straw’s comments were broadcast after midnight and did not make the headlines in the normal news bulletin designed for the masses So the question is whether the fictional UK-US relationship can be made into a reality when it come to the Chagos sovereignty issue? To note as well that he tone was set by Arvind Boollel’s intervention at the UN earlier, about Mauritian government’s intention to deal with the Chagos issue, further than mere speeches and empty talks! Even Ramgoolam had to take notice!

-Je suis surpris de l'affirmation de Pratima: «We all know how people from the Third World are treated in England».

-Yes Mr Jeeroburkhan, you're right, and Mr Kalla too. But isn't there a little soupçon of racism from the British? We all know how people from the Third World are treated in England or USA. In these countries there is a latent or open mépris for all those who are not Europeans. But this comment of mine might not be politically correct?

Un argument revenait dans ses discours: "The Falkland Islanders have the right to self-determination. They need to be consulted, and whatever they want, they must have". Les Chagossiens, alors eux-aussi citoyens britanniques, n'avaient pas, eux, "the right to self-determination".

-@Wisdom. I'm afraid your double negative might lead people to believe that you too have fallen in Ramgoolam's trap. By the way, does anybody remember Blair's cavalier attitude towards Bérenger when the latter was PM? Does Navin think that the Brits would consider him smarter than Paul? It's not because his father (not the Nation's, by the way) was l'homme des Anglais that they were going to be nicer with him...

-Let's not mix national & international issues. The Falklands are much closer to Argentina than to England and should have rightly belonged to Argentina. Military might, imperial ambition & remote controlling of people's thinking through media & western education (that history starts as from when europeans set foot) brought the islands under british control. It was not justice that was done so episodes to follow irrespective of how much time it will take.
