| While in Mauritius, I have the opportunity to listen to the President message. It true to say that, fraud, corruption,illegal drug problem, abusive behaviour of politicians etc, have reached a critical proportion of our daily lfe and is making a huge impact on our society. The President is right to raise the alarm and is concerned by the lethargy and careless attitude of our government in tackling these issues, though our Prime Minister, has been talking and using the slogan of making Mauritius a' Singapore Model' quite unconvincingly. But it has to be mention here that though, these problem are affecting the everyday life of every citizen day after day, The President himself, as the ex Prime Minister and Opposition leader, has failed to tackle these problems which were as serious as they are today under his government too. Sun Trust and Med point issues, to mention a couple, remain a sore issue for the population. Air Mauritus has been and is still a company hugely managed and influenced by politicians inetrference, The MCB, MBC, the intrference, manipulative and abusive behaviour of politicians in recruiting staff to various governmental and semi govermental organisations, aren't new to this government only , but existed under the President government too. Today, it is quite transparent that most people have little faith or no faith at all, in what politicians says or promise to do during election campaign and after. Politicians can't be taken seriously when they raise concens about malpractises, because it is quite transparent today and very much currently, that the thirst of power, has taken priority over decency, respect and trustworthiness. Political parties are very much prepared to swallow their own vomit and filth for power. Mr the President, I would invite you to look carefully at your own practises, among which the 'Cassure between the MMM/MSM', your bedding with the Labour/ PMSD, and now ' The Remake between the MMM and the MSM. I believe there is still a long way to go into the MEDPOINT issue, which yourself and Berenger aren't too keen to mention these days. The population has a right to know who are those behind the fraudulent Medpoint affair, who are those who have benefitted and clearly determine the position of all politicians involved in this matter. I hope that you, as President, and Berenger as Leader of the Opposition will continue with passion to request ICAC, an organisation which is hoped to be impartial beyond any doubt, for a clear and transparent result. I for one, and i believe that many Mauritians hopes too, to see the day that everyone, from top to bottom, are held accountable for their malpractices and punish accordingly, and above all to have a legal system that beyond any doubt. |

| Human Values
Our society is progressing, materialism, luxury and comfort is now at the reach of most people even if they do not possess the ability to value same. I remember that a higher school I learned about Amnesty international but it was an optional class. That same class helped me understand not only about my own person but that of my country and that of the whole world as well.
Our society is suffering from dying human values, and we are staying blindfolded about this as it seems that no one has time to prioritize same. We learn at school and our parents are to teach us the manners of life but unfortunately most parents are busy meeting the trends of new generations without taking time to share the real knowledge, concept and values of life.
Do we even take time to answer few questions. Why is it that despite being modern we find that many youngsters end up having harsh concept about life. Why is it that they become greedy and full of envy towards the success of others and adopt the competitive attitude that is justified by the saying everything is fair in love and war. The answer is obvious; we are not imparting to them the right knowledge.
My CPE teacher once told us, tonneau vide fait beaucoup de bruit. I add to this and say tonneau remplit de mauvais information emmetera que de movais actions. Le tonneau doit etre remplit non seulement d’education mais aussi de valeurs humaines pour faire la balance. How many of our youngsters knows about good competition that to share and give the best. Nowadays most youngsters prefer individual assignment to group works. Is that normal? They are supposed to be more educated. How many of our youngsters understand the meaning of positive criticism, that to analyze all possibilities for self enhancement. Nowadays people fear to give advice fearing the reaction of the other people. Why is that so? Why is it now so difficult to say the right thing?
I noticed that people use education as a manipulation tool, while the real purpose of education is to understand one’s social role towards the society and the country and thus to live humbly to accomplish once duties as such respectfully and impart to new generations the values that will help for continuity of the human race in peace.
How many are they who do not respect their elders be it at home or at work, who do not learn about self control, patience, hard work and perseverance. All want to come and just get results even without giving the required effort. The word respect is like dying. How many are they who do not respect their seniors. People work to achieve, there is no secret about the recipe of success. If you want to succeed this means sacrifice, honesty, integrity, respect and devotion towards your goal.
I made a funny observation about human beings, when they are at work they spend their time complaining about their family commitments like they have to do this and that, and when they are at home they spend their time complaining about their work or boss. Then where on earth will you ever be satisfied. Most people do not even take time to think about their own spirituality, meaning to discover peace of mind and positive thinking.
Our society has evolved; the world has shown that successful countries are those who keep a balance between modernizations hand in hand with human values. In our country I am proud to say that we did meet the challenge of modernization but if we do not take proper action our generation to come will be left only with materialism with no human touch.
When a parent toil hard to leave a legacy for his children; that hard work is of no use if the children do not know how to manage same. Most parents now give their children everything for in the end to be left alone. Many are those who do not find time to even visit their parents, as they are busy conquering the world. But the fact is here, we all will die, nothing is eternal. Even the all the material comfort we work for one whole life time comes to an end, but what remains is the spiritual and moral legacy you are being able to leave to your generations so that they are able to take the lead and maintain your integrity.
Our school must make of human values and concept a must for the betterment of our country. Our parents are the working force of the country, so if somewhere they are failing to impart values to their young, our government must feel concerned and help them as our children spend most of their time at school. A thirty minutes class of human values everyday will definitely contribute to proper enhancement of the country. Education is not just meant to give; it is a power that must be taught how to apply.

| Our laws are not short of flaws.There is no accountability, we have seen, for our political nominees responsible for mismanagement or gross wastages in state institutions.At the very least, they are fired and thus get away scot free.To add salt to injury,there is no law to bar their nomination to other state institutions as directors or even heads. |

| On ne peut dire que la politique mauricienne est une politique de dynastie. Certes on a beaucoup de talents et je pense q'avec les reformes trouveront leurs place au sein de la politique, cependant les dynastie affilier par la politique sont la parceque ils ont choisi la politique comme carriere. Cela demande de l'investissement en terme d'etudes, de temps, de vie priver, vie publique. c'est un choix qui demande bien souvent beaucoup de sacrifices. On a beaucoup d'enfant de politicien qui n'on pas choisi la politique ainsi que l'inverse. Si ils se font de l'argent, c'est leur due car ils travaillent pour ca. Maintenant la corruption c'est un autre element. Pour cela nous avons nos institutions specialiser et la justice mauricienne a prouver qu'elle respecte la loi et non le titre. Notre pays progresse a petit pas. Le discour fut donner par Le President de la Republique, pour moi c'est claire et non par le pere de Pravin Jugnauth comme l'interprete certains. Ne melangeons pas les choses. Apres tout son discours a bien expliquer les maux de societer, tel que la population vieillissante, la drogue, la corruption, vivre au dessous de ses moyens et autres. Entant que President il a bien parler, je suis certaine que notre gouvernement prendra des decisions propices pour le pays et que notre judiciere accomplit avec ferveur sa resposabiliter entant que protecteur de notre constitution. Je regarde la veriter, dans un pays corrompu il y a la guerre, chaos, ou le gouvernement ne se souci absolument pas dutout de sa nation. Notre gouvernement peut avoir des failles mais nous sommes une nation grandissante et non mourrante. Nos critiques doivent etre constructives ainsi encourageons une relation mutuellement benefiques. |
