To Puppet Lal. If Nirvan had to go, and for a respected institution, plotting shamelessly in his back is the least one can expect from a so-called intellectual. The plot was part of the dirty play of forces to consolidate the reign of one particular caste at MK. And yet the responsible Minister has his rep. on the Board who knows well what was going on. By the way, Ujodha has proved to be worst off as indicated by the unions. Et dire que Meg Pillay was doing a good job there. Who cares if MK should now collapse. For those roders boutte, le plus important c'est Air Mtius 'dan nou la main'.

Except that neither Ramgoolam, nor Valayden have been able to muster any extra creole vote ,inspite of Rama's latest outburst. It is all dangerous political posturing for the next general election! Ramgoolam as usual is hiding from the press. The PMSD has for its part moved into the future,in 1967 exactly.Grotesque communalist is the name of their 'cheval de bataille'.True it is possible that Ramgoolam has lended his balls for Rama to squeeze in public. What's abit of pain for a greater gain?

Paul Berenger han not only passed his sell by date and shelf life, each time he opens his mouth to justify his leadership,he puts his foot in it up to his knee. He has split the creoles. The party needs a new leader, a young dynamic female leader perhaps, as President Obama said "The world is changing and we must change with it" That would make the PTr feel like square pegs in round holes. Supporters of Berenger stand a better chance of seeing the late Gaetan Duval congratuling Navin Ramgoolam as PM for another term in office than their leader being elected as an MP. Enough said.

Rama Valayden sera toujours egal a lui meme. A bon entendeur salut!

Triste.

The plan was well concocted since he took office. It was decided in close quarters that the Xavier should be presented in the best of postures at all times, being the ideal Cheval de Troie in Govt. for a particular group (not the creoles). Normal market trends and also his blunders should be presented as achievements. Using his horse, Xavier has been riding high on the barely hidden motives of a few dinosaurs. Now, elections round the corner, he takes his Dad’s coq to ride on the naivety of the common people, esp the creoles. His performance. Absolutely nothing new to attract tourists compared to what was already being done since the years of Mico, Nono, Nando etc. Attending the same trade fairs and workshops with the same old merry-making guys. What an achievement. At least Gaetan initiated the Festival de la Mer and tourism grew by 30% in a single year. Festival Creole is for local consumption, not to attract tourists. The figures for tourist arrivals are not as brilliant as we are made to believe. There were by far much better years in the past where significant growth in arrivals was recorded. It is during times of crisis as now that he should have shown his true capabilities; not during the recent booming years of tourism witnessed across the world. No major initiative has been taken to give a real boost and a new dimension to tourism as advocated by the Alliance before it took power in 2005. Le cercle fermé has become hermétique under Xavier. Tourists are still hijacked day and night by hoteliers to the deconfitures of small businesses turned into docile spectators of tourism activities. Aggression on tourists is the order of the day. Tourist zones are more disgusting than ever before. No development plan for those areas. Touts are running all over the place. Once a training model, the Hotel School is now the official headquarters of PMXD/MR/PMSD for political rallies. Demotivation of staff and students has led to alarming decline in training level in turn resulting in poor quality of service and food, unacceptable hygiene level in hotels and restaurants. Visit their kitchens - simply disgusting. No surprise that soon food poisoning could become another plague on the island. The Airport – This is (or was) under his responsibility and again no major development has taken place except for one architectural plan which took 4 years to be drafted. Apparently, this is not even his doing. Moving a few tables and chairs in the terminal is not how we build the future. Air Mauritius - again under the same Xavier. Here we were served with a mega plot starring Sanjay, Dan and Indira to boot out Nirvan. Everything is still fine for the boys. No case to answer. Along came the MK hedging saga while he is the responsible Minister. Result: loss of millions and more in the years ahead. Service standard on MK, once a national pride, is now synonymous to mediocrity. Monopolies and other fly-by-nights carriers are laughing out at Mauritius for its air access policy gimmicks. A small glass trophy, not innocently given away, is enough to keep the guy happy at Trade Fairs. Branding Mauritius – Started in Feb. 2006 and to-date no one has a clue of what Mauritius stands for from his old post-card image. The Port under Xavier – again the country has been well served by the Chadee and Philippe. To-day, liners are speeding away from Mtius to more business-friendly and efficient ports. His constituency – God knows if he still remembers which one he represents now. He is so good at abusing the goodwill and services of people to later run away shamelessly (tail in between) from his constituency after every election – Nos 17, 20, 6, 4. One way of evading hostility for his mere lip service to the constituents as compared to major development promised. Image building is one thing, reality is another. The guy has simply been branding himself more than anything else. The only thing he has inherited from his great father, is ‘faire semblant’. Xavier does it at work. Gaetan is doing it after his death. The 2 should never be compared.

HOW candid does this statement depict the feeling of a substantial share in the Republic society. We been led to believe that the solutions been well discovered, that everything from the dividing gulf between the have and the have nots, the approach to level playing field for all, the halt in State owned establishment waste, right to free speech, equal opportunity, job security, brake on the brain drain, poverty eradication, tangible improvement in law and order, accountability and transparency in every sphere, gone days for jobs for political nominees, enhancing diplomatic productivity while curtailing overseas missions for ministers and Establishment fat cats, saving money for improving children education and managing expenses during old days, faster and efficient justice, welfare for town and rural citizens, fair reporting from the National Television Corporation, lessening the corruption world top ranking, safer life at all times, downsizing the pervasive powers of dubious socio cultural groups, sanctioning those State extravaganza expenses as illustrated in the National Audit Report, a meaningful ICAC, no National Budget with sweets and honey at the fifth year term, no rhetoric and window dressing but sheer hard work and tangible results , an information act that gives right to probe by citizen, the list is more exhaustive . But the path treaded been and is based on indicators, rankings and other statistical reports that blows high trumpet sounds but meaningless to the average citizen. True to say that Valayden approach reflect highly the pulse of the ground realties in some areas. The party guillotine keeps the herd attitude in high profile, but the pressure cooker steam need to find an ultimate outlet, though the ensuing consequences is boldly written and will be applied in fullest rigidity. The mechanism of silent fatigue is evident, and time for general election makes any make up and veneer application pointless. This stark truth must be noted at Sir William Newton street Official site. The Ruling Party doesn't need a complicated frame, in fact, its better off without it. It also doesn’t need to be the "mommy" party of government services, because people may live with mommy, but daddy brings home the presents and the punishments. Instead the Ruling Group has to get three simple things right: it has to be populist in the belly, progressive in its heart, and liberal in its head. Various wings of the Ruling Group will focus on one of these three things, but without all three, in balance, there isn't going to be victory. Populism is an appeal to the romantic rhetoric of the basic good of the people, and to the idea that government should reflect the will of the people. Populism is emotionalist in its terms, relies on focusing the public's attention on a single individual or case to produce sympathy and sentiment. The opposite of populism is oligarchy, and to a lesser extent, elitism. Progressivism is fundamentally a belief in three quantities: that a free people, when organized into an effective, uncorrupted groups, can make their lives and the world better with sharp concerted action. Progressivism reflects populism. The difference between a pure populist, and a progressive populist is simple. A pure populist will see social evils, where they exist, as an by product of the local grassroots culture, and not to be tampered with. It was regressive populists that made that argument against civil rights, or that make the argument that discrimination based on sexual orientation is legitimate. The opposite of progressivism is traditionalism, or regressive forces that see the past as better than the present. Liberalism is the most misunderstood of the three. Liberalism is the belief that we can comprehend the systematic nature of human activity, and shape it, not just by concerted action, but by shaping how people act. It is more subtle, and therefore easier to mischaracterize. But liberalism's fundamental idea is that society has a shape and a structure that is more complicated than simple maxims. One can't govern out of the book of proverbs, or on autopilot, says the liberal. One has to face the world, as it is, and do what needs to be done, even if it sometimes goes against the grain. An integrated way will have ability to speak from the gut, ability to make change a moral imperative, and way of looking at the whole picture. He or she too will have a certain look, because have only three jobs: educate the public; organize the public, peer into the future to find the best place to lead them. People will respond to this, because, when broken down, most of the public doesn't hate liberals, it just doesn't see the left as an integrated force that is delivering change for the public benefit from top to bottom. So those are the three pillars of victory - Populist in our gut, Progressive in our hearts - and Liberal in our heads. All at once, no excuses.
