BPML is Responsible
BPML is the only one to be blamed in this. The reason is beacause all these building don't have adequate number of parking. They are building a city to reduce the traffic in Port-Louis but some people did not learned from past mistakes. BPML has not done needful to accommodate all these people. To add on to this we all know how the public transportation in Ebene is very bad. This encourage people to use their own car. The question is why BPML has not done any effort to build a reasonable number of public parking? Why is BPML encouraging PRIVATE parkings? Who benefits from private parking?
Aret Critiquer BPML
BPML
One of the major flaw in BPML cybercity project is the issue of parking.lack of planning
Parking problems
I am astounded by the comments that my fellow mauritians have just posted. They all have an attitude problem. They are blaming BPML for not giving them parking. This is totally the wrong way to look at the problem. Even if BPML gave 0 parking, it does not give anybody the right to override the law of the land and park in non-parkling spaces. BPML is under no obligation to provide FREE parking to anyone but the tenants (see management and renters) of the offices. Typical Mauritians. When you cannot get something your way, you override the law. Please take the bus, then you'll be free from parking problems people!
Ebne : Le BPML critique vis--vis des automobilistes
Questions to be addressed to BPML.
a. How many parking spaces were provided to Ebene Cyber City.
b. How many companies received state lands for IT Company development and who authorised them to convert these lands into parking spaces and rent them out at very exorbitant prices...
c. Who reviews the rates being practiced by the parking companies, Government and NTA for prime locations in Port Louis are themselves practicing prices lower than that being offered in Ebene.
d. Where is the so promised parking space that was announced when the double lanes were marked with double yellow stripes lines...
Town Planning
surment kan fer linventaire, pu alle trouve ki c'est ene neveu ministre ou depute ki ine gagne job pu fer town planning Ebene avec ene degree SC seulement en poche!
Roads at cybercity
Question. Are the roads within BPML Ebene public roads or private roads? If public, they fall under govt administration and parking on double lines is a violation of traffic laws.
If they're private, correct me if I am in the wrong here, police won't intervene for lousy parking and that's why BPML is getting upset.
Ebne : Le BPML critique vis--vis des automobilistes
Have you seen the bus problems, the size of the roundabouts, location of bus stops, shelters? A complete flop.
Mauricien encore sauvage meme
Parking Ebene
Bane gran palto kuma 'Sanjay' ena parking donc zot pena problem.
Parking Problems + Sanjay
It seems that BPML is thinking that they are the owners of roads in Ebene. Roads are for public and it seems that Sanjay has parking facilities for Free at BPML. People must also think that we do not have public transport (bus) 24/7 in Mauritius. Can someone afford to pay Rs 1800+VAT per month which results to Rs 24,840 per year?

BPML's security guards scratches cars inside BPML's property
Lately, there were some people who's cars were scratched or tires deflated by BPML's security guards, because the later are trying to park inside [which doesn't seem to block any passage, so why for god's sake do BPML acts in such a way that prevents citizens of Mauritius to use a piece of land that is first and foremost for Mauritians, butl eased to BPML??].
These people come to work there, its BPML's fault if they don't provide enough parking spaces, Rs.1300 - Rs.2500/mo a parking slot, what the heck is that?
Not to mention that some of the security guards are taking bribes to offer parking inside the cyber tower zone [side path], if you pay, you don't get "annoyed or have your car scratched".
Having no options left, where should people park? Obviously on the road, again its not the fault of the people, they were denied parking space in their workplace [because of BPML trying to exhort money from them], they will definitely end up exploiting whatever they can of the law to park.
BPML is being outrageously a liar here, because if you come and have a look around the BPML zones, hell there's NO cars on double yellow lines!
People stay quiet too much.
@ the dude called Sanjay who said " Typical Mauritians. When you cannot get something your way, you override the law."
I don't see them overriding the law, they are just merely exploiting flaws in the law, its legal to exploit flaws in the law :).
E.g you can't park on the sidewalk legally, but its never mentionned that you can't park on the grass next to the sidewalk, BPML is pissed off that people are openly exploiting stuffs like these :).
You can't park on double lines, but there's no mention about the inner lands inside the double lines, so this again annoys BPML, infact, BPML wants to act like some goon, forcing people to pay them for parking space.
Ebene serious car parking problemq
Where is the parking tower in Ebene? Encore ein lot promesse ki zamer fine realiser. Kot travailleur la pou ale park so loto.. dans parking privee ki coute Rs 1500 to Rs 2000????
Ebene - flop in road infrastructure
@ Sanjay - Perhaps you have a private parking there in Ebene and have the luxury to say this stupid comment!!
Planning problems as always.
Building permits for the should have been issued only if underground parking had been planned for. Now its a mess.
Cybercity Land Management
Blier SC, dimun sans CPE in fer land management dan ebene. sak 100M ena Rond Point, devant Cybertour 1 pa coner ki type lacroisE zot in rod fer!! Pou parking zone, zot in bizin converti land kot sipozE monte batiment ek zot set prix location 2000 + vat par mois.
BPML ek so parking
Ebene, the cyber city of the island. Seems to epitomize intelligence and business progress. Massive buildings, great technology. Amidst such development, Lessors such as BPML despite making millions on leasing the building to companies; strive to make more by restrictive paid parking facilities. Buses certainly not the solution in a place which operates nearly 24/7. Why create such a facility and shifting the blame on parking on others. Shouldn't it not be the responsibility of the Lessors to provide decent facilities which should include parking ones too?? In a country where even a supermarket has to provide parking facilities to get their permit; companies should be compelled to provide parking according to the capacity of the building.
Aux ignorants, qui savent que critiquer
BPML being the owner of the Business Park has failed on many levels. The town planner didnt learn anything from Port Louis, isnt it? While sign contract, BPML should have impose that parking space should be included in the development plan and of course this should be relative to the size of the building. Now regarding private parking, how come these lands were allocated? BMPL was quite rigid while giving land on bail that the construction should be started within an agreed time frame. Was these lands given to agent which is the current trend? Is the parking regulated by the NTA? How decide about the parking price? And regarding public transport I wont even go thereMaurice cest un plaisir......

2 fois par mois mo ale ebene ministere pour banne formalites, b mo bizin louer ene parking mensuel????
The problem is bpml, they have very poorly planned the infrastructure there. road is very narrow and very dangerous turn where 2 vehicles cannot cross.
no footpath, no parking and no bus shelter. couma dir dimoune bizin vine travay par helicoptere
Ebene ! ! !
mo penser depi le debut enan ene mauvais planning de chemin which has been done at Ebene. Roads are note large enough, then there are no proper sign boards as to where which building is ...which should have been placed at strategic points like near bus stops ...i myself have come across many ppl asking for info ..some of which i know and many i don't like ministries and parastatals like Min of Housing , SIT etc ..some poeple walk a long way to ask for info when they have already passed the location. Then there is no proper road infrastructure nad layout.in front of cyber tower 1 cars from different lanes are able to join one lane at same time which can be very dangerous esp when they move in different directions.road markings r crap as people park just by the side of the markings...and security guards are always pestering you that ur car should not be here etc ...it is quite sick that concerned authorities are not doing anything about it. In rainy weather there are no proper drains...no lay by has been done for buses and this creates huge traffic jam everyday ! enfin ...i wonder how we going to achieve good things ! ...
bpml parking
could someone tell me where the parking facility is at bpml? i ,for one, have never seen any designated parking .

zot developer kuma sovaz, kot pu park? pna parking. zis passe dan chemin serrer. b moi mo met mo lotto kot mo gagner. sinon rs2400 par mois. alor pa fattig moi. lere lot cou bpml plan pu ranz batiment, met seryer; met parking. sinon bezer
Mauvaises attitudes (bis)
All the comments I am reading (except for a few enlightened one asking to clamp badly parked cars) totally summed up the attitude problems that Mauritians have inherited from Africa and India. It's not a problem of parking, it's a problem caused by the lack of civism of vehicle owners. According to all those commenting, they would just park their vehicle in the middle of the road if they cannot find a parking space on either side of the road or curb or pedestrian pathways.. talk about being responsible and educated!
paye mo parking sanju
sanjay paye mo parkinggggg. to em manager laba
THERE IS MORE OTHER PROBLEMS TO TACKLE
Its about lack of transport planning
@ sanjay, i think this kind of behaviour does not only happen in Africa/India. It happens in other places where people loves travelling by car, especially the US. Anyway, main problem is that transport planning has not correctly been integrated with land use there. What we can do: Survey the people working there, know where they are from, ask them if they would take public transport if certain conditions are met like affordability, convenience, safety etc....Then we will know what to do. The thing we usually do in Mauriitus is to plan something which does not involve the end-users. For instance, even if we provide a lot of parking spaces and put an exorbitant price on it so that end-users are not keen to pay for it, we will have a problem. At the same time, what BPML can do is to ask those companies in Ebene to co-finance infrastructure development within that area. This finance mechanism is currently being used in cities in London and firms have no issues spending some money if it helps their staff and portray a good image. The details should be discussed with all stakeholders to find a win-win situation. An out-of-box solution would be to have a rental bike-sharing scheme like in major cities of London/Paris/Lyon. The details for financial viability can be looked at. There are so many solutions at our disposal. We need to look at them! We need competent people out there who can spearhead these initiatives, not some stupid nominee politique, like in the case of BPML!
Banana Republic
Welcome to the Banana Republic of Mauritius ! Only place on earth where anarchy is accepted and where our police force only intervene in case the radar beeps when going over 40kms/hr! Else NO PROBLEM... Btw BPML thank you for creating Boucou Probleme Mari Lorganisation ... Congrats to all !!!!!!!!!!
Parking Dans Ebene!!
Tou sa tapaz la... C zist 1 fasson BPML gagne plis cass!! Li p ouvert 2 parking derriere Cyber Tower 1!! Ban "responsible and educated!"
parking at Ebene
I agree with Anonym. Before complaining about public disorderly parking developers must ensure at the very outset that there are more than enough parking available for customers expected as it is being done in civilized countries.

@sanjay
It seems to be that you have a serious problem about never raising your voice against injustice, you believe in everything that the systems forces you to do? :)
Could that be some kind of persistent gene from African and Indian always saying "yes" under authorities?
So you see, everyone can be condescending (My apologies to anybody who felt offended by my comments, but this dude was seriously pushing his luck by being so condescending)

Solutions
Parking BPML
Si pa park lor chemin, sel solution c park lor lautoroute!!!
parking..what a joke
Pa vin plaigner dimoun park couma sovage, alors ki "cybercity" lamm couma sovaz, prix parking par regulated, minimum rs1,800, pna 1 bon system transport commun, pna shelter kot bustop, poubelle kv compte lor le doigt ek en plis so fameux trotoir c ban slaps beton kin mal poser ek ki 1 danger pou ban pieton akoz li pa nivo ek kot pna slap, ENA ZIS LA TERE!!!
@kan zot fer development civiliser, lerla zot vin la chasse sauvage, pa avan...
stupid planning by stupid business developers ........
stupid planning by stupid business developers .....
wow
ALLA PALAB LAAA...FOUF
Solution is simple
workers should look elsewhere for alternative work, customers should stop going to ebene....no customers and no workers....business will collapse and even close down...
Uncivilized people
So according to the logic of certain ill-advised people, if you go to New York City, London or even Port-Louis and you cannot find a parking space for your vehicle, you should blame it on the town municipal council/planners and proceed with parking your vehicle wherever it may fit (in the middle of the road, on pedestrian crossings, in parks, etc.). It is clear that the word "Civilized" does not mean much to certain people in Mauritius. And by the way, you are not forced to come to work by car. Plus if you don't like to work in Ebene, you can always quit your job there and find a job in Ville-noir or wherever else. Don't talk about being condescending. The only one to be condescending here is the police letting you being uncivilized.
